Housing
Ward 2 is making strong advances in family housing, but we still need more affordable housing. Oregon is mandating affordable housing across the state, and putting the burden on cities to reach these goals. We need someone like Stacey, who has personal experience creating development of affordable housing, on City Council.
Several years ago, Stacey founded the Creating Housing Coalition to build safe, community supported self-governing housing that honors dignity and growth. Over the course of seven years, the CHC created Hub City Village, a tiny house community that serves the unhoused and housing insecure members of the broader Albany community. Stacey managed this 5 million dollar project, securing 75% of its funding through federal, state, and local grants, and the remainder through local donations.
While she worked on Hub City Village, Stacey volunteered and worked at Habitat for Humanity for over 5 years. During this time she served as a board member, an assistant construction manager, and built or rehabbed 4 houses, doing everything from blueprints to training other volunteers.
During the same time period, Stacey started serving on the Linn Benton Housing Authority Board and the Albany City Planning Commission (both of which she still serves on today).
Stacey has the experience we need to bring more affordable housing to Albany.
